Bernina Accessory of the Month

The October Accessory of the month is the BERNINA Cording Feet #22 and #25 have channels that hold strands of decorative threads, narrow cords or fine yarns in place for couching and can be applied with a variety of decorative stitches.

Cording Feet #22 has 3 channels whereas #25 has 5 channels. A black “gate”, hinged at the left side of the foot, swings over the cords and holds them in place, which prevents them from tangling and twisting as they are fed under the needle. The large cut-out area on the sole of the foot allows these the strands to pass under the foot without inhibiting the feeding of the fabric. As the cords are couched in place, the Cording Foot holds them flat on the surface of the fabric, offering the look of a narrow braid.

Select stitches that go from side-to-side with a width that covers the cord. A simple zigzag or any decorative stitch can be used to secure the cords, stitching with or monofilament or decorative thread, depending on the look you want.
